I recently watch the US film American Gangster staring Denzel Washington and Russel Crowe. In the film about Newark police detectives Richie Roberts (R crowe ) efforts to catch drug trafficker/gangster Frank Lucas (D washington ) smuggling drugs into the U.S via US military service planes towards the end of the Vietnam War. Near the end of the film the Newark police department gains relevant warrant to search the U.S military C-130 planes for drugs. My Question is:-. Can any US police department search any US military equipment/hardware during an investigation ? Do the police have Jurisdiction over the US military in such a case ? I was under the assumption that the police would have to go through military (legal channels ) to gain such (if any?) Access to military equipment ? The reason I ask is that the US (any?) military may have operational/equipment secrets that may be divulged to non-military personnel in any such searches ?... Read More »
